Welcome to the Planned Giving Round Table of Arizona!

We meet monthly, with the exception of July. Guests are welcome at all meetings.

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
November 2008

In our PGRT Newsletter this week there are two very important reports – one from our Leave A Legacy Committee and another from our Legislative Affairs Committee. Please take a moment to review these reports. Our LAL Committee has been meeting regularly with Susan Kauffman and others to determine the future of Leave A Legacy. Leave A Legacy is an important initiative of PGRT. We would welcome your thoughts and ideas regarding LAL. You can share your thoughts with Kelley Tetzlaff or Susan Kauffman.

Our Legislative Affairs Committee, chaired by Barbara Worth, has prepared a report that should be of interest to all of you. There are some good things for us in the recent “bailout” legislation. Learn more by reading Barbara’s report; it is posted on the PGRT website.

Sometime early next year we will begin the process of putting together our slate of new officers and board members as well as selecting members to serve on our committees. I encourage all of you to give some thought on where you would like to serve PGRT. We need active, committed members to bring out the best in PGRT. Let me know personally of your interest in serving.

Mark your calendars, this year’s Summer Forum will be held on June 4th at the Orange Tree Golf Resort! Due to unforeseen business circumstances, Larry Bleich had to step down as chair of our Summer Forum Committee. However, Carrie Kinnear, last year’s Summer Forum Chair, has agreed to take on that role again. Thank you Carrie! If June’s Summer Forum is as successful as last year’s, Carrie may get this job permanently.

This is the time of year when we are all budgeting. Just a reminder to build PGRT and Summer Forum sponsorships into our 2009 budget. In this difficult environment our sponsorships are more valuable than ever.

Two final reminder’s – the Tax and Legal Seminar sponsored by the Jewish Community Foundation and the Arizona Community Foundation, will be held on Wednesday, November 12 from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Camelback Golf Club, Lakeview Room. The address is 7847 N. Mockingbird Lane in Scottsdale. The featured speaker is Lawrence P. Katzenstein J.D. who will speak on “A Potpourri of Charitable Planning Tricks and Traps”. Right down our alley!

On Thursday and Friday, November 13 and 14th, the 45th Annual Conference of the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils, Co-hosted by the Central Arizona Estate Planning Council, will be held at the Doubletree Paradise Valley Resort visit www.NAEPC.org for more information.

See you at our November meeting.

Respectfully,
F. Harlan Loffman
2008 PGRTAZ President
