GENERAL FUNCTION
Under the direction of the President and CEO, the Chief Financial Development Officer leads the organization’s philanthropy and fund development. The CFDO is responsible for overseeing the planning and implementation of the annual fund raising campaign, preparing major grants requests, development of major giving strategies and arranging for planned giving opportunities.

KNOW-HOW
A bachelors’ degree and/or a minimum of 7 years fundraising experience. Comprehensive management skills and experience are required including short and long term planning, evaluation, directing and motivating staff, oral and written communication skills, marketing and financial management, organizational behavior and development, board development and governance. Demonstrated experience in managing and implementing a comprehensive fund development program and producing charitable contributions. Knowledge and experience in the nature and dimensions of philanthropy, ethics, motivations for giving and volunteering, research practices, standard fundraising techniques, grant writing, special events and development office functions is a must.

PRINCIPLE ACTIVITIES

  1. Evaluates the effect of internal and external forces on the organization and its fund development, recommends short and long range fund development plans and programs that support the organization’s values, mission and objectives.
  2. Helps the CEO, Development Committee and Board fulfill their due diligence obligations to assure an effective fund development program.
  3. Provides general oversight of all the organization’s fund development activities and manages the day to day operations of the development function.
  4. Supports attainment of the organization’s fund development goals through the selection, development, motivation and evaluation of human resources, both professional and volunteer.
  5. Designs and assures implementation of cost-effective fund development programs.
  6. Assists in the development and recruitment of the Metro Board of Directors.
  7. Develops a branch annual Board development plan.
  8. Develop and executes the Heritage Club program.
  9. Develops and executes the Major Gift Program for the association.
  10. Prepares annual campaign plan including developing marketing materials, volunteer recognition and fiscal management.
